    Designing the perfect adjustable bench

Designing the perfect adjustable bench. Does the perfect bench exist? I don’t think so and here is how I would design it if I could!

This video goes through what I think the perfect bench would look like because currently I don’t think it exists. I do think there are many good benches out there though but none are perfect!

Here are some of the features I’d like to see and all are in the video.

    Height: 17″

    Width: 12″

    Pad length: 38″

    Angles: 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 85 at a minimum

    Seat angles: 30, 20, 10, 0, -7, -15 at a minimum

Attachment ports on the front, back, and sides

Attachment ports to fit multiple size attachments both vertical and horizontal

Bench under $500 in 2026 dollars

    Slim profile back legs

Stability bar for back pad that folds away

Small gap (no need for zero gap)

Ladders preferred but either would be ok

  • Preacher curl attachment that works with any bench

Preacher curl attachment that works with any bench

I’ve been posting about this bells of steel preacher attachment for a while and am glad to finally get it reviewed. Honestly its a great option for those that don’t want to be tied to a bench ecosystem. This and the bells leg curl and extension attachment.

I don’t have anything negative to really say about this piece. It works as it should. I’ve used it with cables, ez curl, dumbbells, and the weight horns that it comes with. Only gripe with this and any bench attachment is storage. This fortunately stands by itlsef and is easy to move around, you just need a 2×2′ area to store it.

There is an easy mod if you want to stabilize it with your bench using a piece of wood but I dont think you need to do that. Its working just fine as is. I’m looking forward to more companies creating stuff like this that stands alone (looking at you gearforfit).
